Why Should I Be Pierced At Andromeda or Cassioppia?

We hope that after reading this information you will have a better understanding of what to expect from your piercing store.

At ANDROMEDA & CASSIOPPIA we have:

- Hospital grade sterilization.
- Local Health Authority registered premises.
- Spore testing.
- Piercers that are CPR and first aid trained.
- Many years of experience.
- Piercers who are kept informed of the latest cleaning products.

PIERCING-GUN FREE ESTABLISHMENT

ANDROMEDA & CASSIOPPIA are piercing gun free establishments. Ear-piercing guns are NEVER appropriate and are often dangerous when used on anything else then earlobes.

ANDROMEDA & CASSIOPPIA JEWELRY

Our wide range of jewelry is made of the highest possible standards from the best quality materials including Surgical Stainless Steal (GRADE 316L), Gold, Niobium, Titanium, Acrylic and Wood. We do not stock jewelry we feel to be unsuitable for piercings, i.e. silver or gold plate.

STERILIZATION

ANDROMEDA & CASSIOPPIA conducts 3 stages of sterilization for all non-disposable equipment, i.e. clamps, circlips, tapers etc.

1. A 24 hour cold sterilization soak.
2. An Ultrasonic cleaning process that removes any stubborn matter, i.e. lubricant etc.
3. All instruments are then placed in sterile bags before being placed in an Autoclave.

We feel these procedures help maintain ANDROMEDA & CASSIOPPIA's high sterilization standards.

SPORE TESTS

At ANDROMEDA & CASSIOPPIA we conduct monthly spore tests on our Autoclave. These tests are then sent to the Board of Health laboratory and analyzed to prove that no bacteria or fungi exists in the Autoclave and that we are sterilizing all tools throughly and properly.

APPOINTMENTS

Appointments are not necessary but are suggested in order to avoid a long wait if time is an issue. We also accept walk-ins. Our last piercing is performed a half an hour before closing time.

RELEASE FORM

This is required for the following reasons:

    - It gives ANDROMEDA & CASSIOPPIA permission to perform your piercing.
    - You must be over the age of 18, with valid identification.
    - It provides you with a sheet containing appropriate aftercare advice.

WHY I CAN'T GET PIERCED

We reserve the right to refuse any piercing. We will not condut a piercing we feel to be unsafe, unsuitable or unlikely to heal. Certain drugs can heighten pain sensitivity and slow healing. In addition alcohol may cause you to vomit, bleed or faint during your piercing.

WHAT TO CLEAN YOUR PIERCING WITH

After much research we suggest the best products for cleaning and healing are:

For above the neck piercings: Bactine (diluted 50% with water) or Earcare
For below the neck piercing: Antibacterial soap or provon medicated lotion soap
Oral piercings: Listerine or Biotene (diluted 50% with water) & Glyoxide.
All products are mild, but effectively antibacterial

WHAT NOT TO CLEAN YOUR PIERCING WITH

We feel that products such as Alcohol and Hydrogen Peroxide are harsh. No reputable piercer should recommend them. Also avoid any ointment such as Bacitracine or Neosporin. For aftercare use only the products suggested in the above sections help with proper healing.

INFECTIONS

Infections are rare. If our aftercare sheet is followed correctly and you don't play with your fresh piercing you should be fine. However, if you think you have a problem please don't hesitate to call us. Do not remove the ring without consultation, it will close the drainage for expelling the infection.

For more aftercare information, read our Aftercare FAQ in the Library.
